Even from afar a landmark in Neuruppin greets you - the church of St. Trinity at Ruppin. She was the center of the Dominican monastery founded in 1246 by Father Wichmann.

You can still experience medieval flair at the oldest part of town on Infirmary Road.

A special place for visitors of Neuruppin is the house with Löwenapotheke at Karl-Marx-Strasse, 84. It was here that Theodor Fontane was born on December 30, 1819.

There he sits on a stone bench, the legs crossed casually, the pen in his hand, ready to write, a walking stick at his side - Theodor Fontane.

Colorful leaves of the small Neuruppin conquered the world - the Neuruppiner broadsheet. From 1810 to 1937, young and old alike enjoyed over 20,000 illustrated broadsheets, which were the precursors to our modern magazines.

On the school playground, Berson and Brasch planned and built the Old Grammar School in 1790, which is reminiscent of a baroque palace. Theodor Fontane went to school here, as well as the sculptor Max Wiese and the poet Geor Heym.

On the square stands the imposing parish church of St. Mary's. The former house of worship built in the 13th Century was destroyed the great city fire in 1787.

The old house on the fishing grounds built in 1736 on Street 8 is one of the few spared during the city's great fire. It was home to four widows of preachers with their children.

The waterfront has been newly designed with boaters in mind – it has always been called "Bollwerk Parzival am See" by the locals and features the art of Matthias Zágon Hohlstein.

Those who once wanted to visit Neuruppin had to pass through one of the four gates in the medieval city walls. The Rheinberger gate indicated the direction in his name – the road would take you to Rheinberg.

Just behind the parish church on the square is a monument to Schinkel. It honors the famous son, Karl Friedrich Schinkel, who was born in Neuruppin on March 13, 1781 (he died in Berlin in 1841).

Here you will find an exotic jewel of sandstone baroque cherubs, rare plants and the temple. Crown Prince Friedrich, later Old Fritz, had created his garden "Amalthea" during his days as commanding officer from 1732 to 1740.
